Anthony Sabuneti is an innovative young artist who was born in Harare in 1974. His mother, who is a potter, played a huge role in sparking his interest in art. One of six children, he always wanted to be with his mother while she was working and learn her craft. His first works of art were wire vehicles that he would sell to his peers, and later were displayed at the local Community Hall.
In 1987, Sabuneti and several of his artist friends formed a sculpture group, Gota Tochisuma Atelier, in which he works still. He has been trained in many art forms, including calligraphy, woodcarving and batik. He has studied at the Silviera House in Harare, Zimbabwe.
