Jim Sephani is an artist who was born in Harare. He attended Primary and Senior school in Mabvuku before beginning to sculpt in 1992, under the guidance of Luxon Gutsa and his brother Tafuma Gutsa. He worked with them for a while before joining the Chupungu artist's residency on his own merit. He works there still.
Sephani has worked with artists such as Joseph Munemo and Agnes Nyanhondo. He has an exquisite sense of space and balance, and often undertakes the challenge of working with very tough stones, such as lepidolite and leopard stone. His work is in collections both public and private throughout the world.
