Tinashe Makaza is a native of northwest Zimbabwe. He now resides and works as an artist-in-residence at Chapungu Sculpture Park. His work is noted for its organic and primal elements.

His depictions of human embryos revisit the womb and explore the ideas of self and surroundings. Nature is clearly his greatest influence. Other sculptors believe that Makaza was possessed by "art spirits" because his sculptures were so creative. He is greatly influenced by master sculptor Bernard Matemera.
