Zimbabwe lies in southern Africa and it is a country very much in the news today! It is a country with a colonial past......Zimbabwe became independent in 1980.....and it has a rich tradition of stone sculpture dating back to the early 60's. Giants of African sculpture have emerged from Zimbabwe, among them Henry Munyaradzi, Nicholas Mukomberanwa, and Bernard Matemera, all men of rich talent and abundant character.
The country's artistic tradition extends also to music, with masters of African music such as the late Ephat Mujuru and Oliver Mtukudzi influencing generations of artists worldwide.
